Breakout Sessions at all Men of Valor Conferences are designed to challenge men in a variety of different areas of their Christian walk. Below are the speakers for the 2020 Warrior Conference along with information about their breakout session.
Thoughts for young men
First Baptist Cleveland
In this break out session, we will introduce the passionate appeal to young men by one of the great Puritans, J.C. Ryle’s book Thoughts for Young Men. We will look at five reasons young men need special exhortation, five special dangers to young men, six general counsels to young men, and five rules for young men to follow to steer clear of trouble and sin. This session is great for all men even though the material is geared toward young men. The material would be great for those who work with young men or for a father and son discussion.
Covering all the bases and finishing well
This session will be about how to manage our most precious resource in this life - our time. As men who love Jesus and want their lives to have the maximum impact, we find ourselves stretched thin and overwhelmed with how to cover all the bases in our lives. Work, health, finances, marriage, raising our children well, serving our community, and the list goes on. We wonder if we will be able to do it all, and we find ourselves feeling like we are coming up short. If we are not careful, we could burn ourselves out, and not finish the race at all, or at least not finish it well, leaving us with great regrets later in life. It is even possible to cover all the bases, and if so, how? I will be sharing what I have learned from others, from God’s Word, and personal life lessons on this topic. My hope is that we can leave encouraged, focused, and with a plan.
Gillsville Baptist Church
I will be speaking from 1 Samuel 7 on this thought: Being an Authentic Man of God.
What Just happened?
First one to the office, last one to leave. “Lack of planning on their part doesn’t constitute an emergency on mine”; never mind, I will get that done too. This does not just describe my professional life; it also filtered into other areas of my life as well; friendships, church, ministry, etc. Everything is moving along as planned, then comes the meeting or phone call from out of nowhere…..
What Just Happened?
God IS the Master Navigator. He is in charge of the traffic, the exits, the detours; even the construction zones. He is so incredibly interested in being alongside us during the journey that is when the GPS starts re-calibrating the route, as we know it. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we discover our identity that no worldly title could ever compare.
